Apollo Bay Hotel
Not happy to serve just your average pub grub, this bistro offers a few quirky dishes you wouldn't normally expect from a seaside pub diner. Sure, all the classics of pub dining are well-represented here. The obligatory steak comes as a 300g scotch fillet with your choice of sauce or a porterhouse on steamed vegies with a red wine jus. Being a seaside holiday destination, the seafood on offer is similarly varied.
However, it's the other options that set this place apart. A section of the menu dedicated to wok meals, lamb souvlaki or Moroccan chicken dishes all help to bring this bistro out of the pub grub genre and place it firmly in the gastro-pub category, where it belongs.
